When entering this small 480 sq. ft. apartment you are immediately taken with a grandeur usually expected in a larger space. Dark hardwood plank flooring throughout replaced the dated and badly worn '60's honey-coloured parquet, both unifying the space and providing an overall feel of richness and elegance.

The dining area is placed just inside the entrance alongside a dynamic floor to ceiling backdrop of the desiger's original black and white photgraphy. The contemporary oak table and matching chairs in a rich ebony finish complement the photo frames and provide a large enough surface for client presentations or casual dinners in front of the new remote-controlled fireplace. Oversize hurricanes contain large white piller candes, each nestled in a few handfuls of earthy-coloured river stones.

A common theme throughout the space is the melding of different periods and styles to create interest and visual tension–a new way of looking at things. In the bedroom for example, Empire juxtaposed with loft-style feels right at home as we approach traditional elements with contemporary flare. Flanking the new fireplace are two brushed stainless steel lamps whose design seamlessly blurs the lines between traditional and contemporary styling.
